Quick and Easy Dishwasher Repair & Installation Services

Dishwashers are among the most used and time-saving items in your household. And this is because every meal you eat creates dirty dishes to wash, which gives your dishwasher work to do every single day. But this also means it’s to be expected for problems to occur. So dishwasher repair is important as it’s an appliance that’s used so often.

For example, in some instances, there won’t be enough water to clean the dishes properly. So you’ll need to run the dishwasher again or just do it by hand. Another problem is the drain can become clogged from leftover food, causing water accumulation and potentially creating “greywater.” This could lead to category two water damage, meaning you’ll need water damage professionals that are trained to handle possibly germ-filled water. You don’t want your dishwasher to reach this point and become a health hazard to you and your family.

Luckily, the team at the Plumbing Squad offers two useful services for managing your dishwasher, and that means you can prevent these issues completely. So whether you’re in the process of adding a new dishwasher to your home, or just need to fix the one you own, we’ve got you covered. All you’ve got to do is take a peek below to see exactly what we can do for you and your dishwasher today.

FAQs

Dishwasher Repair & Installation FAQs

In this section you will find some of the most frequently asked questions we hear about our dishwasher repair & installation service.

If your home is already equipped with a dishwasher, we can get your new one fully installed in about an hour or less. That’s because there’s no need to add new plumbing openings in your walls, which greatly speeds up the process. Naturally, we’ll make sure to use brand new water supply hoses as well. This will prevent future issues with leaks or floods. Aside from that, you may need the help of an electrician. This is due to differing electrical connections between your new and old dishwashers. But the whole process should be quick otherwise.

There’s a good chance you’ve got some old food stuck in your disposal. The dishwasher and disposal drains are connected, so if there’s a clog in one drain, there’s a clog in the other. It’s good practice to make sure the garbage disposal is free of any food bits before you run your dishwasher. And make sure to let some cold water flow through it as well. This will clear any particles of food beforehand. A “hack” you can use is to plug the sink with a stop, load it with water, and then release the stop once enough water fills the sink. If you’re lucky, the force of the water will clear the drain out. If not, it’s best to give us a call so we can lend a hand with your dishwasher repair.

First and foremost, double check the cleaning guidelines from your dishwasher’s manufacturer. Last thing you want is to ruin your interior with bleach tablets which are made for plastic machines - not steel. Some machines may not even respond well to natural cleaning agents like vinegar. And that's normally safe for most cleaning purposes.

Next, you’ll want to clean your twist-out filter. It's located on the bottom of the dishwasher, and you can rins it under the sink. And you’ll want to wash the baskets that hold silverware as well, giving it the same cleaning you did as the filter.

Plus, in some cases, you won’t have specific tools to handle the project on your own, making faulty installation more likely. So even if you feel confident, you’re much better off just letting one of our skilled plumbers bring the knowledge and training required to 100% handle your faucet project - with little chance of mistake at all.

In general, there are three situations where you should immediately call a professional plumber:

  • Draining issues
  • Heating issues
  • Wiring issues

Draining issues need to be dealt with fast since it could mean a water supply line is damaged. If not handled swiftly, you could come home from work to find a messy (and expensive) water damage situation on your hands.

As for heating problems, these will not only lead to subpar washes, but may also indicate mechanical issues or even a water supply line problem. You can check for this by putting your hand against the machine and feeling for steam while it’s working. Since you don’t want to deal with any water damage problems stemming from heat issues, this is a good reason to get a plumber there, stat.

And a wiring issue is a common problem, too. You can easily check for this by pulling your dishwasher out and inspecting the wires. When looking, make absolutely sure not to touch anything and check for burns or breaks in the wires. If you see anything like that, get a trained plumber to take care of your dishwasher repair immediately.
